Frequently asked questions about track days & motorbike riding
What is a motorbike track day?
A track day (or riding session) is a riding session on a closed circuit organised by a club or a professional. Unlike races, the goal is the pleasure of riding safely, with no ranking or official timing. Riders are usually split into skill groups (beginner, intermediate, advanced). WELYGO lists over 260 track days, riding sessions and motorbike events in France for 2026.
How much does a motorbike riding school cost?
A motorbike riding school on a circuit costs between €250 and €800 per day depending on the venue, organiser and format (own bike or rental, individual coaching or group, half or full day). Riding schools on premium circuits like Paul Ricard, Le Mans Bugatti or Anneau du Rhin are usually more expensive. Beginner courses are often offered from €300.
What are the best motorbike circuits in France?
The most popular motorbike circuits in France are: Circuit Paul Ricard (Le Castellet), Lédenon (Gard), Le Mans Bugatti (Sarthe), Croix-en-Ternois (Pas-de-Calais), Magny-Cours (Nièvre), Anneau du Rhin (Haut-Rhin), Val de Vienne (Vienne), Nogaro (Gers) and Alès (Gard). Each of these circuits regularly hosts track days, riding schools and speed competitions.
How do I register for a motorbike track day?
To register for a motorbike track day on WELYGO, open the event page and follow the organiser's registration link. Minimum gear required: full-face homologated helmet, leather suit (1 or 2 pieces with zipper connection), gloves and high boots. Your motorbike must be in good mechanical condition (tyres, brakes, fluids). Some track days require specific circuit insurance.
What's the difference between a motorbike track day and a karting session?
A motorbike track day is a free riding session on a circuit (€100–€350 per day), open to riders with a motorbike licence and full gear. A karting session is more accessible: no licence needed for leisure karting, gear provided, prices from €15 to €30 for 10-15 minutes indoor, or €50 to €150 for a full day outdoor. Karting is ideal to start motorsport and is an excellent driving school before switching to motorbike circuit riding.
